Ethos

Sol y Luna provides a one of a kind educational experience for young children, their families, and our community. Understanding the impact of quality and informed early years education on children’s development, we stand at the forefront of early childhood education by integrating innovative and evidenced based early childhood education pedagogies to create a nurturing, stimulating, and sustainable early years education program and environment. Our focus is to support the healthy and holistic development of children’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social capacities to their utmost potential.  We proudly follow an anti-bias, inclusive curriculum that celebrates diversity in all aspects of life. Please look through our site for more detailed information on our program and how we are working to continuously maintain and develop our commitment to high-quality early years education and a sustainable community.

 Mission

Sol y Luna Nature School supports children’s holistic development by promoting an eco-literate and empowered child, family and community in order to address climate change.

The wider the range of possibilities we offer children, the more intense will be their motivations and the richer their experiences. We must widen the range of topics and goals, the types of situations we offer and their degree of structure, the kinds and combinations of resources and materials, and the possible interactions with things, peers, and adults.

“Our program was developed with the understanding that one singular approach cannot possibly meet the diverse needs of every child. Our continued education, dedication to continuous professional development, and various teaching experiences have shown us that a tailored educational experience can be created by weaving together the extensive research and teaching pedagogies available to us. The child’s needs are always at the forefront of our program’s development. For this reason, our ratio never exceeds 5 children to 1 extensively qualified early years educator.”
